Many large and firms had to cut on IT costs due to the Condition of the economy. This situation has a huge impact in the way these firms supply supports and goods to the market. Many times, we do not check the impact of this issue on revenue, competence and so on. This situation has led many firms to outsource their IT management and programs. Managed IT services firms are very helpful in the IT world. It is important for us to find out the power of this type of company.
With a website you can easily spread the word about your products or services to the entire world and for very little cost in comparison to costly advertising campaigns. Television ads are incredibly expensive, even for those 15 second blurb spots at three a.m. are going to cost a pretty penny.
Because if a client decides instead to go with Zoho or Dynamics CRM I’m now signing them up to pay from $25-$44 per month per user and I get my margin from that. And to entice a prospective client to sign up for the service through my firm rather than directly with the vendor I’m offering up a few free hours of service too. No big bucks up front. Just a lot of sweat and the hope that the customer buys and is happy with the product. And if they are, then they’ll keep paying every month. And I’ll keep receiving my commission every month. And as long as the product continues to stay good and we continue to provide a good service those checks should keep on coming.
How do you know how much to spend on IT? Typically, I’ve found that it’s appropriate to spend about 1 to 1.5 percent of annual revenue on IT. This will at least give you a ballpark so you can budget and should include hardware, software, and support. This does not include investment in items like custom development or software applications that might provide specific revenue streams. Problems inevitably arise in any organization of any size when the CEO tries to skimp on IT. It’s the problems that you don’t even know could occur that could put you in trouble. Do your business a favor and invest properly in IT so that your customers and partners can count on you.
One reason is that I can finally rely on software companies to own their product. When I sell a typical premise based application, and something goes wrong with the installation, I’m the one onsite at the client taking all the abuse. With a cloud based app it’s now up to the software vendor to stand by their product. Sure, this lack of control concerns me a little. But I’m relieved to be able to share the burden with the vendor instead of taking all the heat when something goes wrong.
A good friend of mine lives in LA and makes a very large amount of money with his business, but does not do managed IT services salt lake city. I have talked with him about creating a managed service offering and the benefits that it would create for his business. He is absolutely convinced and his checkbook backs him up that bringing on managed it services is more of a challenge than a solution.
Try before you commit – with Pay-As-You-Go there is no contract. You can try a service without committing. Then when you are happy it may be worth committing for a better service package.
